A sonorous talk of a Maithil lady on phone

Usually phone calls are business calls and people do not talk unnecessarily.

For last few days I am contacting students who had appeared in 2008 merit cum poverty examination held at Madhubani so that they may sent new examinees to 2009 examination to be held at Jainagar and Darbhanga.

Yesterday I talked Dhiraj kr. Mandal of Madhepur he had taken admission in I.Com and also he told me about his friend Anand Kumar Jha who has also taken admission in the same course and college.

Today I called for Puja Kumari of village Ramnagar, Jagatpur near Madhubani. The reply was a sonorous one of a young lady who was her aunt. I guazed from the pronunciation that she was somehow educated and asked her to communicate Puja’s marks who had taken admission in mathematics stream at the RK College, Madhubani.

I asked about Herambnath Thakur, an old man of that village who had participatred in Mithila movement led by Babu jankinandan sdingh in 1954. Herambnath Thakur had been to asansol jail with many, including my uncle Madhukar Thakur on the narration of which I had written an article way back in 1992 in the Ranchi Express and since then I am a votary of Mithila satehood.

Herambnath Thakur had written me letters getting my address from somewhere and I had gone to see him Ramnagar village. He had blessed me.

Babita, the lady on phone said me that he was her grandfather in law and was ill with paralysis at Delhi at the house of his son who work there. I asked her to give me his number so that I can talk him and meet if possible.

Then I asked the lady her naihar.; She was from Karnpur(Supaul) and was graduate who used to teach at Jamshedpur where her husband works and also later at Madhubani. Due to illness of her mother in law she was at Ramnagar and was rearing up her two Laxmis.

I asked her age –she was of 30. I asked her to shoulder her responsibilities and also have some social work which she agreed.

I gave her first work to send some students to that examination.

I told her about Mira Kumar being first women speaker to which she said that women were proud of her. I added that she was not an ordinary women from a family. It was just taking a pride for me that L N Mishra was also a Maithil Brahmin.

The way to find right persons at right place is to nurture talent as we are attempting at our own level. Giving some prize or bringing some students for 3 months coaching(from this year as planned) is not a big thing but a small beginning of a big thing.

“The picture of Mithila will change by such work.” I had told Shatrughna Yadav, a teacher at Salempur, near Ucchaitha, Benipatti I had seen him during my cycle march in October 2008 when he only was taken in confidence by a mad married young girl whom villagers were torching. I had then prescribed some medicines for her and she has recovered. I requested him to come over to Jainagar in meeting and also to send some students for examination.

I know this is a tedious work but let me take track of a few hundred students to have some tangible results till then it is a sonorous talk of that lady on phone.
