A day at Patna_(19.2.2012) for Mithila work

A day at Patna_(19.2.2012) for Mithila work

When I had decided to go to Patna on 19.2.2012 there was to be Patna Pustak Mela but despite knowledge of its postponement, I had decided to go there as Patna has importance for the statehood movement for Mithila. Patna and Delhi have equal and even more importance than work in Mihtila and so arranged journey(including off from call duty on the holiday) I wished to utilize but again local workers had not much enthusiasm.
I could not be informed the meeting venue till morning I reached despite earlier information- each one tried to have settled by the other and finally the person accepted gladly could communicate on 19th morning that the previous day he had some accident at Darnhanga. Though he met with unfortunate accident, he had not communicated others that was a point and I decided not to take his help to arrange from the next time (as it was second occasion- in November too he had gone suddenly Muzaffarpur) from my side though I will inform him/ ask the other organizer to inform him/ any such worker who have defaulted due to any reason.
Not only ,the other who was very active for Brahmin Mahasabha was busy in Ravidas jayanti and did not find time.

The other one who had been very serious for having a plot on Darbhanga Highway and have strong Mithila movement too did not arrange a meting though had invited me to come his residence (I had told that I WAS ON Pradosh Trayodashi FAST AND he had nothing to do except calling persons for a meeting) but had to leave home on urgent call.

A teacher talking on Maithili stories had too the same day only to go to Mithila.
The other senior worker wished to come the point I would be and even went there but could not locate the house as could not get me on mobile. When in the evening his phone I received I could talk and reprimanded that that was the cause I insist on meeting venue and time beforehand, If that is not fixed whom one can inform and it was not the first time my mobile could not be connected. Usually I call prefixing 0 which catches many a times yet it is sure our Maithil community is organizationally very weak and do not take things seriously.

It is not a matter of my visit that I undertook at my cost of time , money and health it was important or not, Maithils as a whole are unaccustomed with organizational tours and meetings which I have been trying to instill since two decades. Then who works? Only those who had RSS or such trainings in the past and so AMP is continuing despite having no affiliation with any such body.

Though Maithils are accustomed to grand Vidyapati functions , there are certain basics which Maithils need to learn. In any organization such tours are important and be planned meticulously. Remember in big functions some workers are lost- we lost some for Mumbai, Agra conferences as there is glamour of camera and posts but small in-camera meetings add workers was the view of MS Golwalkar of the RSS and he was cent per cent correct ( I felt that in the NMO working when they left the founder himself on its grandest Silver jubilee at the Siri Fort Auditorium graced by Sarsanghchalak KS Sudareshan, DY PM Advani, and many more ministers from centre).

Yet I had a meeting because I asked Nabebndu, the nephew of a great Mithila lover and worker late Chandrakant Jha of village Sabas(Darbhanga- Benibad –Muzaffarpur route) asked me to come his residence when I called him on 18th. He used to send Maithil Nav varsh greetings for many years(this year on April 13 that day is and should be done by all of us concerned –a day before Jursheetal, the Vishv sankranti which is Ashwini in Mesh and is NEW YEAR astronomically).

I had an uneventful journey, mostly sleeping, except chiding two Army Jawans not to smoke in the coach. The train services disrupted due to interlocking at Patna junction was over and my train was in time both ways.

I had been to Nabendu’s that residence at Rukanpura nahar, many years banck and reached there. Patna was cooler than Ranchi. I waited for some hours engaged in reading pages from many Maithili books he had on the rack- Sushila jha’s ‘Aripan,’, Shefalika Verma’s autobiography ,’Kist Kist Jeevan,’ Gajendra Thakur’s,’Kurukshetra antarmank,’ Kamayani’s,’ Samaysan Samvad karait,’(Seeing her village Jaydevpatti, I recalled her and I even phoned her getting number but she did not recall my hour long meeting with me in her MRM College Hostel). I did take bath and did puja in sun and restarted reading.
NK Jha of the Novelty & Co. phoned me that he had reached only previous night 10 pm by car and he would be coming and he came.
Akhilesh, working in the Aakashwani also came . He had organized a Maithili camp at his village Nanaur. Some others were present and we did a formal meeting. I stressed on membership and a good meeting in the ensuing Pustak Mela when on March 18 again I would be going to Patna though NK Jha wanted some other day later but I would require leave for that and maybe on 24-25 I am at Delhi, if a planned meeting is there, Story reading night- sagar Raati Deep jaray is ok but I would be interested in separate organizational meeting in which such writers have least interest which is the paradox of Mithila movement. Most of the Maithili teachers and or authors say they would not participate in Mithila- Maithili movement but would be only happy to reap any advantage for that- If Maithili is in the Sahity Akademy or VIII Schedule who got the monetary benefit? ).

NK Jha dropped Akhilesh and me on the highways and I thought to go to the PMCH to visit ailing Rajmohan Jha about whom Azit Azad had mailed and had also aprreared in Ranchi newspaper the Bhaskar as NK Jha told us and then to the Hindustan to meet its editor Ajay Kumar referred by Ashokjee of Ranchi and Shekhar Prakashan to put some copies of my Maihtiligita for sell. Suddenly I recalled I had also told Vivekand Thakur ,secretary, Chetna Samiti for a meet and called him(under the impression, to have a small stop in the way) but he had been at Danapur at his relative’s house and he called me. We stopped auto and returned back and reached Danapur bus stand(It was my first visit of that area) and took other auto for Takiapar where a Maithil LK Jha of Sanahpur, near Gonugram, Bharwada was waiting. He is a physics teacher and I said that missed to top in the Bihar PMT due to physics( mechanics 12 marks I could not answer and I barely missed by 9.5 marks to crate a history though I topped among Ranchi University students and was placed 19th in the then Bihar ) .
He had listened me in a Vidyapati Parv at Mithila Colony on 14.12.2008 and was eager to meet personally. I was sorry that I wasted at least 2 hours at other place which would have been better utilized there. At his sister’s house Vivekanand Thakur of Chanpura was waiting. Being in a house on providing breakfast I asked permission of evening bath and pradosh puja in his homebuilt puja space and then I ate my packed food from Ranchi( Dalpuri-karailk bhujia) with rosgullas offered from house. Suddenly I recalled Shridharjee of Andhra cyclone when he had replied a worker in 1977 though purchased from shops idly-badas he used to take chutney from the cyclone devastated that family of advocate who had lost his both parents in the cyclone and had no paddy that season though usually having 200 sacks other years and I asked for some tomatoes if he had in the house without salt and it was readily provided. At Nabendu’s house too I had not taken anything. It is an odd condition for the hosts but I am helpless as I fix up tours without considering that is my fast day or not as that is my personal problem.

There was a long talk with Vivekanad Thakur and I gave all points in favour of Mithila state(Akhilesh later told me that my talk was video graphed by LK Jha). Vivekanad Thakur said that no Maithil should oppose Mithila State movement whether say in support or not. I asked him to provide us free space in the Chetna Samiti for our conferences even if Chetna Samiti do not agree with our agenda.

It was going late to go to press and LK Jha saw us off at the auto stand when incidentally a Maithil from Thadhi SN Jha was introduced. I told that Akhilesh was from nearby Naanur and we had gone there (on 1.9.2009 and then again on 22.9.2009) on Vachaspatideeh for its renovation and had a committee ; later on Tarakant Jha visited the place and government sanctioned money though I had talked villagers for one day salary or labour and the land owner had also agreed to donate. I remarked that his named other Maithil, a journalist had not helped me(though I had gone to him with a concrete data of Gangawater of Mithila gifted to Bengal and Bengladesh without Mithila’s consideration). He was sorry that anyone named SNJha was useless(for Maithili work), for the first time. I wish this SN Jha relaces that (or one more other though a Maihtilipremi had not liked First International Maithili Conference).
I told Akhilesh in the way as to why I had taken tomatoes in that house though by the time if any Panchkoshi house, the housewife must have insisted on hastily cooked item for Paran! That is the beauty of Panchkoshi but all said and done that journalist was from the great village on which Mithila has pride from this panchkoshi( Five kosh=10 miles radius of Saurath ).
I also told Akhilesh that if one goes to the fringe zone of Mithila there is much respect for Mithila worker and they come to listen(for core Darbhanga-Madhubani, Mihtila is a normal thing).
When Akhilesh asked me to have some help in his job(listening to one IPSs posting in Jharkhand) I told him that it was incidental as I was a doctor and not any leader yet if he put my name in the referee, maybe some persons Maithil/non-Maithil knowing me can give him a weight age as recently one Bengali in one of the Central University had said to a Maithili that he had read my article somewhere(maybe on the management on ‘leadership’ as he was a management expert).
I also told him that if I was in any panel on any board for prizes I delivered justice and when I find that one among named by me was awarded felt satisfied that justice was delivered by me. I also feel in such prizes like we doctors feel cost as a prescribing factor to medicines, poverty of the author, if empanelled be a last criteria(if any award is a good salaried like me, I will donate that for the cause for which the award would be).

It was going late and was not possible to visit PMCH and though I thought to postpone even going to the Hindustan(as the mobile number I noted from of the Hindustan Delhi who had talked to him had responded from a lady not the the editor) and meet Shardinduji, Akhilesh couldnot understand and changed the street for going to Hindustan Press and the editor first asked was I from Darbhanga. I replied though was coming from Ranchi referred by the person who was at Darbhanga in recent past. I was called and I went to the press with which I was familiar since it was The Searchlight.
The Editor welcomed me and I explained that I came to meet him because Mithila state movement though going on with its pace was not given due attention by the press simply because we were non-political persons unlike other state movements. I also explained that the press all over the country is showing a dismal picture of the creation of Jharkhand though datas were against that and I showed him the TOI 20.11.2011 where every data was showing Jharkhand had progressed in past one decade much better than Bihar though that too has developed. Even the reporter has there wrongly interpreted his own data. I also gave him Outlook’s Feb.6,2012’s pages showing 2040’s Indian states where Mihtila was prominently marked in Bihar and Jharkhand(Santhal Pargana including as the AMP demands)
The Editor had a busy time and some meetings in between yet he talked and took my mobile no. for further query. I requested him that to have a Maithili page at least for whole of the north Bihar, if not a separate paper as a paper from Kolkata was having circulation and if the Hindustan take up it would be commercially advantageous to it also.
I saw the different editions of the paper had delivery time printed with 15 mts difference 14 editions, the last for Patna mahanagar 0045 am.
We were also hesitant to have train at 21.45 pm and meeting Shardinduji was out of question;he must have left by that time. Still I had a darshan of Lord Mahavir and had Tirupati laddoss( money is siphoning to Telugu sweet maker!) and giving 15 copies of my maithiligeeta to Akhilesh for giving to Shardinduji for sale, I went inside the station and then platform 9 where my train came a bit late around 10pm and I slept on upper berth soon. I was awoke at Gomoh and then at Kotshila and then when my eyes were open almost everyone had already got down at Ranchi junction. I changed coach towards rear side and got down at Katharkocha, on the outer of the Hatia station, near to my residence and was given a lift by a SAIL employee.
It was again a fast day of Mahashivratri and after a quick bath and puja I took a sankalap of 14 yars’ Mahashivratri fast(that now Mahadev will have to lease me a life of 14 years for fulfilling Sankalp for His puja! And, may get other extension of 14 years then…whether can see Mithila in this 14 or that extension is a matter of conjecture but the lesson is working on this module is utmost difficult.
This journey to Patna cost me only Rs.414 and I also slept maximum because I have no work in trains and there you cannot even read after 10 pm for other’s convenience nor there is TV to disturb you but whether my time is utilized- I met Nabendu and Akhilesh and NK Jha surely and Vivekanad Thakur and LK Jha and SN Jha and the editor Hindustan,Patna. However, once at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal a medico I had seen a perfect worker who tried to make me introduced to as many students in the day and night (and teachers in the evening) when I had suddenly dropped there retuning from Udaipur.I was not knowing there anyone but when Mahesh Bapat knew my work he took that as an opportunity for spreading the message.
I as a person may not be important but the movement for Mithila is important for many regional and also national reasons that I am working for it and in fact as a doctor I should have least interest in such affairs (and even as social activist friends of my school of thought know my position and I would have get any national position by this age) but I an working as a humble worker not for setting any unbreakable record of meeting Maithils but for a cause which is dear to all of us.

Many a times I feel people take the things very lightly. The problem of Mihtila is not so light- it is a question of subjugation some 2500 years back(of Ajatshatru) or say since 1326 by Giyasuddin Tugalaque and Maithils have taken solace in the condition in whichever they are however there are some youth and some seniors who are not placated with the status quo and are eager to make Mithila separate from the clutches of Bihar.

I explained the editor that the time is soon coming when national party like BJP would like its space independent form a feudal shatrap and Congress has nothing to loose- If Rahul can go to Bundelkhand why not he comes to Mithila having a great potentiality of 28 seats in Mithila and (due to high migration 68 seats in other states). I also said to the editor that Koshi high dam is a dream and we (Dinesh Mishra of Jamshedpur and me ) do not think it would be complete rather we should learn to live without high dams. (I also informed him my small talk with the then PM , Nepal, Prachanda for solution of it we needed Mithila states in both countries and he declared one for his country).
I also pleaded before him that Mithila was a must for the national security(and hence, Vajpayee Koshi Mahasetu was initiated).

This type of visit is important at Patna and Delhi, if workers have time. They should go above poetries and stories, I told Akhilesh though those are also important ingredients of the culture, I admit.
My next visit to patna (in Pustak mela ) will be on March 18th , 2012 when a seminar on, “ Relevance of Smaller states’ in India : In the context of UP and Bihar,” will be held in which Dr. Boochroo Paswan, GSecy. Mithila party, Sri Sudheernath Mishra, President. Mithila party etc. would also speak.

I know March 23rd is Bihar Day again bit I do not care. Last year in Bihar Anthem they lieft Mithila and there was protest; I saw this time in a big hoarding in way to danapur for the Global Summit and I pointed out Akhilesh there the Vidyapati was portraed bigger than anybody else, including LordBuddha . However, we should not be placated by such emotive things- ekahi sadhe sab sadhe- we need Mithila state in India for any number of our problems solution is that …and for this work at Patna and Delhi are must. If planning goes and we may get some more workers maybe by Dec 22-23, 2012 Silver Jubilee of the Antarrashtriy Maithili Sammelan would be there(XXIV at Forbesganj on May 13-14,2012 as per talks going on).

wish parikalpana, first Maithili cine-art monthly a bright future

wish parikalpana, first Maithili cine-art monthly a bright future

Today came young theater artist Neeraj Thakur of Ranti on the reference of Kislay Krishna who has just edited first issue of PARILKALPANA, the first cine- theatre monthly magazine in Maihtili.

It has a beautiful cover of Shrriti Jha,(not Shruti Jha) a beautiful actress who has miles to go in her film career.

In an interview in the magazine she has expressed her attachment to mother tongue, Maithili.

There are some news regarding Maithtili arts here and there and also Mithilakshara.

Kislay has been a Maithili worker and writer, hailing from Saharsa he has a wide canvass of Matihtili workers in his introduction and it is hoped he is successful in this new venture though journalism in Maithtili is always fraught with the fear of collapse.

I asked Neeraj about Maithili films and I was surprised to know that despite a film produced by Sajivjee of Nasik, they could not get halls free as an encouragement to new film in Maithtili which is provided thus to Marathi films in Maharashtra.

I sometimes feel lost that despite beautiful faces why Shrriti is the first on a cover page?

When every Maithilani is an Aripan painter and singer why not Mithila dance?

Maybe due to Muslim rule there might have been prevention or not evolution as Odissi and Bharatnatyam could despite Mithila had many vocalists of national fame.

Wish PARIKALPANA a bright future

Dhanbad_Deoghar-Godda-Deoghar_ Feb 11-12, 2012

Dhanbad_Deoghar-Godda-Deoghar_ Feb 11-12, 2012

On 11th Feb. 2012 I was scheduled to go to Muzaffarpur but thinking Patna Pustak Mela’s my programme on 19th Feb that meeting was advanced (though there is no Pustak Mela that day for some reason we will have meeting there on 19th for Mithila Vidyarthi Parishad, Yuva Mithila and AMP 2 hours each as talked today with Sanjeev of Chatra).

I was free on 11th Feb. and had asked Praveen of Dhanbad who said that meeting would be done.
I had first decided to go by 10th night Patliputra Expreee bit later changed that for 5 hours journey, an early rise and taking Alleppy Dhanbad would be sufficient. On 10th evening I had been at the Pravin Ohal’s quarter(besides mine) and had got his book ‘Asia on foot,” about which I will write after I finish( along 2 lakh km journey on foot or hitch hike of a 20 year boy with no money in pocket with a mission SAVE EARTH, Plant Tree etc. I thought to take a passenger train in which I could read that book(I read some 50 pages there, pages are of very 9or 10 point fonts..

I could not talk Praveen and I was skeptical whether a meeting at all was arranged for me as Dhanbad president Dhirendra Jha and core worker Mihtilesh Jha had no information till 10th night I enquired. Yet, I had taken NMO materials to have contact in medical college there for utilizing my time and also I told Mithileshji to arrange a talk his Sarswati Viday mandir by 4 pm and hence taking Alleppy Dhanbad was essential but at the Hatia station I found that was 2 hours late and I took a passenger ticket pout of queue to take departing train of 750 and I could get it running with my bag.
At Gomoh I dropped one bag of the Aayurvigyan Pragati in the RMS to the physicians of the country and halved my luggage.
The passenger train is always comforting to me as I can meet the locale and eat fruits etc. from poor vendors.

Luckily VK Das could contact Praveenji and informed me that a meeting was fixed at 630 pm and I was assured of utilization of my time.
I reached Dhanbad in time and enquired curiously for the Alleppey_Dhanbad which was standing at Katrasgarh. I had already told Mithileshji that addressing students will not be possible this time.
I came out but Praveenji was not there and despite almost 30 calls his mobile was not responding and I had an anger for him. I thought the mobile link had failed and in fact my house mobile too did not respond; such problem with 94.. numbers I had in the past at Banka also, I recalled. I made switch off and on but it did not work and hence, and went outside a STD booth from where I could get Praveen’s who was returning to his residence finding me not and also VK Das had returned. They were on the Exit but did not saw ahead where near police barricade I was watching for them to come.
The golden rule is that one should go to main Exit only . I had thus escaped once at Jammu also when my friend Dr. Satyadev had missed me but I reached his residence however here I was not informed as to where meeting was scheduled which is a must for any meeting as then only one can say other where to assemble?
Praveen and VK Das both returned from mid way and then I told them that in such a case one should be suspicious as well as some tragedy may happen with anyone anytime. I had talked them from train from Muri and Gomoh and where I would go?
Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay had lost his life likewise at Mugalsarai and luckily a vender worker of the RSS recognized his dead body and then the world could know.
We informed local president Dhirendra Jha and Mithileshji that we were coming for meeting and went to meet AK Jha, Chief Resrvation Supervisor and an AMP member who hails from Biraul. Then we went to meet a lady Mrs. Choudhary whose residence was close by. She was local vice -president of INTUC. I was shocked to know that the lady was a widow. She hailed from Panchobh the village of my bhuji(wife of elder brother). When I enquired for her children I was informed her eldest daughter was at Jamshedpur and was quite active in social work and when I enquired for her husband’s name I was deeply shocked to know that she was also a widow and surprisingly she as a young widow of only son of her father-in-law had not agreed for remarriage but when she delivered other baby girl, the father in law left her in a lurch and even took up whole money TATA had given in compensation to her husband and a case was going on. When I asked her in-law’s village, she pointed out to VK Das’s( Bharwada, the Gonugram).
I had a chance meeting with journey friend with VK Das who had this chance incidence!
Anyway I asked VK Das to be in contact of her and condemn such demons in the society.

We reached Dhirendraji’s residence and soon Mithileshji came and we had a proper meeting. It was a good thing that local Maithils have already resolved for supporting second language status for Maithili movement in Jahrkhand to which they were in opposition till recently.
It was decided that the AMP would have its state conference in April at Dhanbad to give momentum to this movement.

VK Das narrated a grand story how his son was transferred from Assam to Patna in a Govt. Job on mere talking in Maithili with a high officer and other high officer made the boy released on query and truthful answer that he had no introduction with him and his number was given by his son, the employee. Not only that Maithil did the work he himself phoned Mr Das that his son was released and that is the taste of mother tongue for any genuine work.
Incidentally Dasji’s that son was also known to Mithileshji for RSS connection.
Though I had accepted Dasji’s invitation for dinner at his residence all, including him preferred dinner at Dhirendraji’s house after which we dispersed and with Praveenjee and Dasji came to station.

At Dhanbad station Praveen and me waited till midnight to take Ranchi _Jaynagar Express which had no scheduled stoppage till Jasidih(though I had approached Railways for its halts at Sakri, Chandrapura and Madhupur, only Sakri has been allowed),

We got train around 1 am and were awoke for going ahead Jhajha. We had taken a direct ticket to Baidyanathdham and we slept in the 550am train standing there and around 6 am we were there. We enquired about Bangla Vidyapeeth and decided to walk which would save some Rs.30(or Rs.15 by rickshaw) as well as will take some more minutes to awoke Mishrajee and we reached though there was a confusion with Hindi/Bangla Vidyapeeth but I recalled it was RK Mission’s school i.e. Bangla Vidyapeeth which had a sprawling campus and though we took a longer route it was a sight seeing of that famous institution.
I asked someone about Mishrajee and retired IG Singhjee and he was well known(and later I listened to his discourse on incarcerations and religion through audio cassette on loudspeaker. So it was easy to reach Mishrejee’s house where I had been twice at least.
It took some time to be ready and we were in way to Godda where I first had darshan of Ratneshwar Mahadev before going to Vidaypati Campus where Sarbjeet Jha, advocate and president ,AMP, Godda was waiting and doing all preparations.

I had been many times Godda before I met Sarbjeet Jha but was not successful in holding any meeting. When I knew him and had some visits I became familiar and gradually the local society respect6ed my views. They are already organized as Maithili Brahmins and have a vast campus of 28000 sft on which they are planning a good and spacious Vidyapati Bhavan.

AMP is not a caste based organization yet we believe in the preservation of traditions and cultures. Anti- Hindus call Hindu Dharm ‘Brahminical’ and that is a wrong notion as any Hindu observing any ritual is a Brahminical or Hindu ritual, I use to explain and hence when a proposal of Brahmin Mahakumbh came I said Sarbjeet Jha to see Netaji Subhas’s sticker on his coat.

I was at Godda in the wake of ongoing Brahmin sammelan at Ranchi where many expected my presence and so at Karmauli (Madhubani).

I said at Godda, if a Brahmin does his own ritual everybody would respect him/her and I had said thus after I had in the morning at Deoghar my Samdhy-Vandan and Tarpan, panch devta Puja swiftly at the house of OP Mishra, retd. Chief engineer with whom we (Praveen Jha from Dhanbad and Arun Kumar Jha, Suptd engineer, Deoghar and me with OP Mishraji in his car) had gone to Godda after a delicious chura-dahee. After meeting again there was a good community feast with rice delicious vegetables and finally curd of the highest quality.

Godda is the Mihtilanchal of Jharkhand. The days of division amongst Maithils of Godda on the name of Angika has gone due to the consistent efforts of the AMP and all demanded ma Godda is the Mihtilanchal of Jharkhand. The days of division amongst Maithils of Godda on the name of Angika has gone due to the consistent efforts of the AMP and all demanded Maithil's second language status in Jharkhand.I said that Maithils down Ganga should enrich literature in their own dialect which I prefer to say 'Dakshini Maithili (Grierson erroneously named it 'Chikha-chikhi)I It was my 7th visit 5.9.2003

And Dr. Guneshwar Jha, former president, AMP, Jharkhand had also paid a visit there. This time I was accompanied by Pravin Jha from Dhanbad and O P Mishra, retd. Chief Engineer and Arun K Jha, Suptd eng, from Deoghar. Though many promised from Bokaro and Dumka could not come, it was a good meeting and I am thankful to www.jagaran which has made this lead news of the district that I am forwarding.

Godda’s development is a must and the people have been befooled so far. This is probably only district not connected with rail.

I also explained as to why Santal pargana should go in Mithila for Ganga water availability and reservation to poor sandals which is gobbled up by the developed Chhotangpur tribal also after 50 years there may be a possibility of other state south of Ganga .
The meeting was a successful one and after delicious food we started back and peaveen and me were dropped near the gate of Baba Baidyanath. Soon came my nephew Kerishnakar there and we stayed there for quite sometime and in a stampede like crowd I could have darshan with my ‘kamna,’rather kamanas hardly to be fulfilled..

Though I had crossed through Deoghar many times more I could not go to Mandir for Darshan. It is one of the XII Jyotirlingas. For Praveen it was the fourth chance of Darshan.

We came to Jasidih and took Patliputra Express and it had a rush for some recruitment in a paramilitary force in which two students whom I recognized ‘lovely babies’ I advised to refrain from joining.
Till Ranchi I came comfortably seating and I got down through a slow moving train near my residence seeing other to getting down though it is not good after Tarun’s accident but if you follow Newtonian law to run with train for some distance in the moving side of the train you can get down.
This is a lesson for the life too- and for any movement too - Do in Roman as Romanians do.

Koshi Mahsetu be named on Vajpayee

Koshi Mahsetu be named on Vajpayee
Koshi Mahsetu was inaugurated on 8.2.2011. It will have a great impact on the Koshi –Kamla belt and through East-West corridor the distance to any part of the country will be much less and also from the strategic point of view it will have a great military healp. It will also reduce the cost for essential transportation to Nepal as well. The bridge will decongest Mahatma Gandhi Mahsetu of Patna as well Rajendra Bridge of Mokamaa-Simariaghat and also Kursela bridge.
Hope a civilization in Koshi belt is getting relief after the tragedy it is facing for flood perrinealy.
It was a dream for many of us who were born in the Koshi bed.
I used to listen from my father who had settled at Forbesganj that before 1934 earthquake OT Railway(Ouadh-Tirhut Railway, the old name of North Eastern Railway, which was called in joke AAloo Tambaku Railway) could reach to Sakri in few hours and it wou;ld be possible in coming days by train also on the railway bridge under construction side way.
I had written an article in the Ranchi Express in 1994 that a Maithil of eastern side of Koshi need 299 km traveling by a circuitous route for a distance of mere 10 km which is swelled with Koshi in rainy season. Thereafter I had written several blogs on it may be searched with my name on Google.

When Vajpayee laid the foundation stone there on 6.6.2003 and also announced for the inclusion of Maithili in the VIII Schedule of the Indian Constitution, it was difficult for me to say which one was more important and even today I am not able to say it reading newspapers reports on www.jagaran from Supaul, Madhubani and Darbhanga districts about the mammoth rally of people.
The bridge has bridged Mithila’s two parts. In pre-1934 there were many relations between Madhubani and Sahrasa, even my mother’s grand (maternal) mother was from Bangaon- my mother was a few years old during 1934. I did never ask where she was born but I presume as per our custom the eldest daughter of my grandmother , she might be at Bangaon.

Initially president of the Antarrashtriy maithili parishad, Dr. Kamalkant Jha said me on mobile that by good fortune of us Vajpayee was alive and hence the bridge may have other name and I had proposed Bharti-Mandan Mithila Mahasetu but 2 days back I found a report from Birirpur(Supaul) somebody had asked for vajpayee’s name and I concted Saharsa and Madhepura as well as president at Jaynagar and vice president Prof. NL Das at Forbesganj for Vajpayee’s name.
In that connection when I contacted Saharsa Prof. Vinay Choudhary to contact Saharsa MLA for it , I became happy that already he had written to this regard about a fortnight back. I read today that Sanjay Jha, MLC demanded this from the dais itself when the people had self- inspired Vajpayee’s slogan of Jindabad! Hukumdeonarayan Yadav’s speech in Maithili had great clappings- it was he who on foundation ceremony had reminded Vajpayee(in ears) fo0r Maithili’s declaration for VIII Schedule(which he already had agreed before the RSS choef KS Sudarshan and Dr. Bhubaneshwar Gurumaita, President,AMP).

Sometimes back Amrendra K Jha from Bokaro had phoned me after a long time that we should celebrate the occasion and be present there. I had problems in leave but I was mentally there and I saw the even on TV.
I collected several printouts from www.jagaran and was pleased to see people were jubilant and saw mammoth gathering.
The inaugurator CP Joshi, the Union Minister of Surface Transport rightly said that dreams hardly fulfill in one’s lifetime- CM Neetish had it and likewise Vajpayee on whose name the Mahasetu needs naming.
I confirmed from Google today that the Rajendra Bridge was built in 1957 and named on him(I do not know before or after death) but we should not wait for naming this bridge on Vajpayee- already people have named it on him and there should be no politics on this which many local leaders have started sadly.
When on the 6th evening I tried for the demand from Nirmali, a young Maithil Umesh was also agreed for Vjapayee over other names though he had in long discussion raised many issues regarding the space of have-nots in the Maithili literature awards and others which need separate discussion only mentioning that those who see society in segments do not see truth and is true from everyone’s perspective.
Let me see when I have a chance to traverse it.

The role of Maithil and Mithila in the promotion and growth of Jharkhand,"

The role of Maithil and Mithila in the promotion and growth of Jharkhand," is a widely discussed topic in Jharkhand while we are doing agitation for the second language status of Maihtili in Jharkhand on several grounds.

Maithili is the language of Devghar, and around of Santhal Pragana as per the Linguistic Survey done by George Griesrson and it has been accepted by the Patna High Court as well in its decision.

Maithils have been always in favour of Jharkhand- in 1992 when Babu Saheb Choudhary came Ranchi and I organised his meetings our support to Jharkhand movement had appeared in the Ranchi express(I have that news cutting even now).

Maithils have contributed a lot in all spheres of Jharkhand- its movement and development on which we are planning a seminar in the near future.

It has been said that the first martyr for the Jharkhand movement was led by NokheLal Mishra of Jamshedpur who went to jail demanding Jharkhand..

DR. JC Jha had his thesis on tribal movement before Birsa Munda from the London University which is probably first thesis on the tribal life of Jharkhand.

There is hardly any good school/college of repute or University where Maithils had not taught and in a way the educational world of Jharkhand is in debt of Maithils.

I witnessed in one Vidyapati Parva at Muri Sudesh Mahto local MLA and now deputy CM, Jharkhand had come late and on the dais he caught his ears before Anil Mishra of Damodarpur, Madhubani saying,'Sir, I was always late in your class and again today I am late, please excuse me."
Surprisingly his party MLAs at Ramgargh(Chandra prakash Choiudhary )and Chandankiyari (Umakant Rajak) had opposed Maithili in Vidhan Sabha for second language.
At Chandankiyari whole village is Maithili speaking for some 250 years called Satgharia Maithils and I had been there on 2.12.2007 with Tulababu, Ardhnareeshwar met old Sushil Jha who told us that for the first time they were visited by any Maihtil since they left Mithila and settled there. He informed us that Shaligram is since then is daily worshipped with Bhog in their house.
Near Bahragoda many Maihtils families are settled –once a MLA of CPI lady some Sharma was a Maithili Likewise near Daltonganj a village Kishanpura is settled by Maithil Brahmins.
These areas are on the way of Babaidyanath dham to Jagannathpuri and Maithils are settled in between.
Whole Santhal Pargana is Maithil dominated- Motoa Dumaria is called Koilakh of Godda district and Godda district is called Mithilanchal of Santhal pargana.
Hemant kumar Jha was other MLA and many other like Shudhhadev utpal, Budhhinath Jha ‘Kairav’ and in fact any staltwart from Santhal Pargana has been a Maithil and many among them were non-Brahmins also.
Present Governor MP HE Rameshwar Thakur hails from santhal pargana and is a Maithil Brahmin.
The word ‘Angika,’ can be better said as Dakshini Maithili a soer my own views.
Dr. Jaikant Mishra had retorted at the Budhanath Temple, Bhagalpur,’Are you call yourselves as Angika Brahmin? And everybody was mollified.
The area south of Ganga till Jamtara is an extension of Maithila is historically proved.
From Deoghar Vinodanad Jha was a member of the Constituent Assembly who became second chief minister of undivided Bihar.
From Deoghar Bhavpreetanand was agreat Maithili poet on which Sahitya Akademy has published a monograph.
Maithili is taught in colleges of Jharkhand since 1960s and the first recipient of Sahitya Akademy award since the formation of Jharkhand was in Maithili(Vivekanand Thakur) and the present representative of Maithiulki in Sahitya Akademy is Dr. Vidya Nath Jha ‘Vidit’ who taught maithili at the S>P College, Dumka and is famous for his book on “Maithili and Santhali- Sambandh o Saaampya.’
In fact Nagpuria is closest resembling to Maithili spoken in Ranchi mofussil.
It was said by any Dr. Guneshwar Jha , ex-Dean Faculty SDcience, ranchi University and president, Antarrashtriy maithili parishad, Jharkhand, in a speech that our Maithils not only spread education in Jharkhand they also sold salt to the interiors.
In industrial field , Maithils have been contributing in every central and or state PSUs- they are the brain and labour of any such industry and many have been CMDs/CEOs in CIL, SAIL etc
Now Maihtils are in every sphere of Jharkhand from a peon to the Chief secretary of Jharkhand Mr. SK Choudhary and so as a group we are those who had contributed to the life of Jharkhand.
Not only my uncle Kshemkar Thakur was a headmaster of Rungta HE School, Chibasa for many years I have met many Jharkhandi persons in the train who owed to some or other Maithil teacher.
I personally came here in 1970 as a student and during Durgapuja of 1980 had been to village Anjan(where Lord Hanuman was said to be born to Mother Anjana) with a medicos team and was the first doctor to go to the tribe of Asurs and Korbas knowing which Gandhian Subba Rao congratulated me at Raipur during October 26-28,1980 in the ABVP conference(he had this information from some source that I had visited there sometimes back).

Varanasi’s experiences 1977-2012_ An honest tongawalla of 1977, Santoshi 2012 Barber Santosh; A foreign lady with four under 10 kids

Varanasi is the greatest pilgrim centre of Hindus , on the holy bank of Gnaga, situated between Varuna and Asi rivers and is a great tourist attraction. It is said to be on the Trishul of Lord Shiva .
We read in the Satya Harischndra Play in Hindi about the city,
Shashi Sam jasi, asi Barnau asi aisi lasi Varanasi hai..

I was to take admission there in the Central hindu Boys’ School, Kamachha as per suggestion of Bhideji the staltwart RSS organizer who later became its Vishwa Prachark Pramukh but could not fill up forms sent by him as I had developed pyemic abscesses in my body otherwise my course of life would have been different, maybe like other Govindacharya moulded by the great man-maker Bhideji there but this is the city which changed the course of my life when at the age of 22 I had gone there on the direction of senior friend Govindacharya ,’If you want a national organization of medicos, come ABVP’s 23rd national Conference,’ and I went there leaving my special pathology classes of Prof. A.B. Khan which were so important for my ensuing examination. (Yet, I fared very good in my examination.).
Here I will recollect some of the amazing moments in that city.
In 1977 when I had gone there from Darbhanga, in fact out of state of Bihar it was my third visit and to the biggest city( after Puri-Cuttack in 1973) and of course of Biratnagar, a smaller town in neighbouring soverign Nepal though from Mithila point of view that is a hometown Forbesganj’s satellite township at a throw stone distance of 12 km.
I recall my first journey when in fact I was a young traveler and had visited all the places
In my Hindi book I had read Bedhab Banarasi’s writing on Varansi that there brabars ulte asturesse kaat lete hain ..(people are deceived by barbers) but I was surprised by the honesty of a tanga puller when we were to leave at the Varansi Cantt station(main station with a temple like look) November 1977. There was a group of students from some state who had hiered the tonga but finding free conference bus they left that and hurriedly jumped in the bus forgetting one of the luggage- the poor tangawala ran behind to give that, Babu, apna saman lel lo!”
He may be a rare species of honesty but I saluted him.
I have been there 17 times during 1977 to 2012.

I would not go into the details of each journey but the last journey just concluded I have two impressions to share-

Bedhab Varansai was a bit right when I asked for tonsuring my head in Kakarmatta- I asked charge. Rs.35. I offered 25 but barbar said no. I walked some distance towards Bhelupur at one place I was asked Rs. 30 fixed rate(in Ranchi I use to give Rs.20 so I thought it was more) at other place surprisingly Rs.10 but I was asked to wait one hour. I walked further and I saw a small wooden boxed saloon where many were waiting.
I did not ask him rate and thought I should by this way give some money to a relatively poorer young man and he requested me to wait.
There were some kids and persons but Santosh was so fast and perfect in his work that I admired him mentally. His house was demolished under anti-encroachment drive and so he had closed his shop and was busy in making house for some previous days as he replied to some of his customers who had lively relation with him.
I also could know the political temperature from standing persons in queue. One person said that Mayawati ould make Varanasi, a capital(after quadrifurcation move of UP, and capital would go towards babatpur, the eastern side of present city).
The same man saud that ‘ dearness can be controlled only by BJP because it has big businessmen as well intellectuals.
I felt he was right as the UPA govt. failed on this front where Vajpayee led NDA was successful. He praised Sheshan for electoral reforms .He also praised Bihar’s governance and I listened to his street politics very minutely. In fact, such spokespersons are mass leaders of the ground and need winning by any political move.
After sometime I became restive as I had to return my brother’s residence and Santosh tonsured my hairs and beards soon and perfectly. I gave him Rs.15 (though initially I was thinking to give him Rs.25 but saw one person giving him Rs.10 for long hair dressing which took much mire time compared to my tonsuring) and he took that happily.
I spent less but gave it to a poorer as well as I was benefited to walk for that morning and could know many things for the UP from the ground realities.

Afternoon- Punditjee did not came nor did reply my brother’s several calls- a habit of Maithils I often come across- they do not want to say, “NO.’
Somehow other pundit came and incidentally I had the Varsh Kritya that I could fulfill rituals under his guidance with correct mantroccharan.

Evening at the cantt station- waiting for Ranchi train..
I saw a young foreign lady with four kids – one in the lap, second in the bag like extension of her jeans, third catching the fingers of mother and fourth eldest walking independently – all under 10. Her husband was also walking with luggage. What proud life with four kids. I though might be a Muslim from Taskent area but may be from Europe also. Whether our ladies of elite class will learn from her.
I missed to snap them but here blonde faces will always remain in my memory.
