26th June,The National Emergency Day of India; Kalam put himself in the line of Ibrahim Gardi

26.6.09
26th June,The National Emergency Day of India; Kalam put himself in the line of Ibrahim Gardi
I have been hovering over the yesterday’s Kalam’s speech as well as today’s anniversary of the National Emergency.
In the morning I listened to the news of sudden demise of Michel Jackson and thought to keep 4 tabs of clopodrigel every time in pocket(at least for myself if not for others though as a qualified doctor I can come to anybody’s rescue in emergency better if I have drugs too apart from CPR which everybody should know.
Since night I am listening to the news of Kappil Sibbal’s announcement of making Class X examination optional and had listened to Anil Sadgopal’s opposition to single board all over the country on some points which were also raised by some person yesterday in Kalam’s programme.
I personally feel that in stead of Class X and XII, board should be at Class VI and XII, maybe Class VIII and XII but such quick board examination after Class X hardly needed.
Maybe Class VI board be made very easy with elementary knowledge and only grade as pass and fail with around 30 per cent marks as pass park .
Class XII should also have grades not per cent when every professional examination is after a competitive test.
I will like same one board for whole India with one standard but it does not mean dilution to lower standard of board whichever existing but rather an average or towards higher scale.
Question of Govt vs/ private institution was raised by Harshwardhan when I rang him after getting two miss calls during which I busy in a long call of 23.52 minutes from Manish of Hyderabad(we do not say now long distance call which was in vogue some years back).
Manish wants to fight election from Darbhanga and I welcomed his stand. A young man of 27 working in a leading software company is an ideal candidate for Darbhanga if it has to develop as an IT-hub which it can with the fertile Maithil brains(I had long back said in a function that if opportunities given next time Bill gates will visit Madhubani than Bangalore, and I had said thus before Muthuraman, the MD of Tata ( now Tata-Chorus which has decided to shed off 3000 employees only yesterday I listened to on the German Radio Doichewale which too usually is anchored by a Maithil Mahesh Jha; the Jha Rupa Jha in BBC speaks well though I do not her personally, Mahesh Jha had once sent me a mail).
Sometimes back I thought Rupa is granddaughter of great Harimonahn Jha seeing a girl child Rupa in his lap but somebody told me that Rupa in question belonged to Bhagalpur. Migrant population is usually sharper than originals and so Bhaglapuri Maihtils are migrant from Darbhanga some 300-600 years back and they have preserved their culture and intellect.
Who does not know Maithil S.S. Jha, a Bahgalpuri counterpart of Kalam. SS Jha was director of TIFR(Tata Institute of Fundamental research, Colaba, Mumbai, the progenitor of the BARC(Bhabha Atomic Research centre) and it was SS Jha’s comment on TV first when ‘Buddha had smiled,’ with Kalam’s contribution at Pokharan II during Vajpayee regime.
Harsh wardhan’s ring tone, ‘ Ugna re mor katay gealainh’, made me to ask him who was my “Ugna’ for long many month when I was in exile at Bangalore in 2006. I asked him ‘ to restart the AMP work where it was left on 19.11.’06,’ on a note of discordance of sending savings of the due XV International Maithili Conference ,Bangalore’ to Jainagar central of AMP in Madhubani from the Bangalore’s jaynagar city of AMP where we were in a meeting then…”Jainagar san Jaynagar tak,’ a book encysted in e-files can get released with a theme that we Maithils are one either at Jaynagar in Mithila or Jayanagar in Karnataka as our DNA is same.
I said Harsh that if he would not have then too some other ‘Ugna’ would have met me..it was he that he ran with me here and there in that big metro with me,; in his house we started work on Ashadhi Amavasya in 2006 to celebrate AMP’s Foundation day and we worked. Man him or me is not important – theme is important. And so, I asked him again to restart the work as if a gramophone pin starts singing if line was cut in between without a trace of previous singing. And harsh and all otheres have taken vow to work for AMP’s objects till death. They may have problem with me who is not there now but one point is sure one organisation must be accepted as apex by all ,if Maithils are to get their due in the prevalent system.

I asked Harsh also to contest from his home next time though he said that he was busy with some project clearance for an engineering college there at his home. He had been the youngest secretary of Vidaypati Parisahad at Vidyapatinagar, where Mahakavi breathed last with saying..”Bahut sukhsar paol tua teere..” which was exactly the ring tone Harsh had last time he mailed me suddenly.
Harsh had read my accounts with Dr. Kalam and asked that Government school do not invite Kalam.I said it was wrong rather he would not accept invitation and a trial can be taken by him inviting on behalf of his village school.
As I said I am not in favour of degrading institutions of excellence simply because other institutions have lower standards. I am not all opposed to schools of excellence and I know every school cannot be Harvard or Cambridge(Even Taxlia and Nalanda were only among few such in India) but what I mean that everyone should be able to develop phenotypically what genetically he /she is endowed with. There may be referral system from accredited schools on Govt. expenditure for good students.
However, I will like that Govt. institutions be schools or hospitals should be revitalized by siphoning funds and thereby attracting talents in that as majority of the countrymen live in villages and slums and depend on them and talents are there as if Kalam himself was a product of such a place and school which he acknowledges with reverence to his teachers.
He had yesterday remarked on his teacher who while walking had spirituality emanating and while teaching science enflaming…
Science is a general knowledge- yesterday big camphor filled lamp made the AC Hall suffocating because Ghee would have been used and further a foolish attempt was made by spilling water over that when it is known to all that oxygen causes fire and hence a piece of cloth just wrapped could have put out the flames.
Last night I talked my friend, a Koshi Flood devotee bachelor, scholar of IIT Kharagpur, Dinesh Kumar Mishra that Kalma was not so emphatic on inter-linking of rivers. He saud that Vajpayee Govt. had support for that but I think Kalam must have read the other harmful ecological aspects of such a gigantic plan.
I got some letters in appreciation of my comments but one from Issac who once had met me at Mysore had written about Kalam,” You make A P J Kalam sound a paragon of super virtues - omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence - when actually speaking he's just a very average guy with ordinary views.”

I replied him.” An average guy with ordinary views makes a man omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, a paragon of super virtues, was not so Issacs himself dear Arup when God Herself(as some of Hindus of Eastrn India like us we adore as Mother more than Father) is Arup- with no Roop(definition or adjective), omnipotent, omnipresent..I may not agree with Kalam's all views but his dedication to his work had made him, 'a philosopher among the scientists, if not 'a politician among scientists', and 'a scientist among politician.'Let us learn to appreciate others while even criticizing and that is the devine way('Forgive them who do not know what they are doing,' said Jesus even on Cross; Kalam might have made Missiles but without that India would have been 'Talibanised' much before than Pakistan which in fact is in itself 'Talbinistan,'; calling one'Pak,' means 'rest of India, was 'Napak(Impure),'; Kalam could overcome this mentality and among Muslims he put himself in the line of Ibrahim Gardi(Shivaji's General),and AfakUllah Khan (Chadrashekhar Azad's friend who was executed after Kakori dacoity of revolutionaries) if not Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan.I have all praise for Kalam though I never liked him as being President which should have been a post for politicians, maybe Nanajee Deshmukh was the fittest candidate then wen he was chosen by astute politician Vajpayee who himself would have been fittest when Bhairon Singh Shekhavat was put up before Madam Patil. The politics has many ifs and but and today is 26th June, the day when the National emergency was clamped by Indira Gandhi...Let us take a pledge to save our nation from any onslaught external or internal and that woul be the best tribute for the day.Dr. Dhanakar Thakur

Debu is to work

Debu is to work

My young friend,
Friendship with a young
Like you makes me young
Friendship with your
Assistant gorgeous Madam
Made me mad
If not opposite
Flood or draught
Debu is to serve
Astronomers predict
Not nation builders
The pledge you had taken
To Rebuild the villages
Devastated or deserted
Debu's dilemma is to work
Here or there
But where I could not
Find you on phone
Nor on Mail.
Seems you are now e-Debu
Debu, debu...
You have forgotten me
That's ok but
Do not forget the small
Kids you met on
Koshi bunds
Who lost their fathers
Lost theire mothers
In the deluge of
Mother Koshi
In year 2008
If one think they
Must be happy
Not to see rains
Are fools
As rains and floods
Are their life
As life is to you.

मिथिला राज्य कियैक चाही?

There are few who read and reply and fewer are who can find the meaning of any email and letter but we appreciate all as they are better than those who have no interest in societal function(read for us Mithila)!!!

Being anywhere from a village to US, anyone can promote things relating to our motherland, India and Nepal and Indians and Nepalis in general and MITHILA AND MAITHILS in particular !!!

it is good that some persons like to learn and practice, and even coach our children our SANSKRITI, particularly I congratulate such mothers as Maithili can survive as Mother tongue till mothers speak it to their children.
Celebrating HOLI, PICNICs, MITHILA PAINTING, ARIPAN competition among our children , Maithils food , jokes competition , script writing , cloths, helping others in marriages , sharing sorrows and happiness, standing for each other is appreciable by all !!!

It is good that something will be done by these societal functions and will tell WHAT MAITHILS AND MITHILA MEANS WHAT IS OUR CULTURE ...TRADITION , AND EDUCATION.

We need to take care of ourselves
1)LANGUAGE -Even after getting into the SOOCHI ASHTAM ,how many of us ....know to write in MITHILA SCRIPT ?? Not even 5% of Mathili passed graduates though they have some 5-10 marks on it.- Yet today at Darbhanga station, you will find Darbhanga written in Tirhuta, though in small, it is in the repercussion of the questions I raised in a press conference ,the next day a mother tongue lover journalist asked the same from the GM of Railways and it was thus implemented.

However script is not the only thing for the preservation of language.
Devnagri is used by languages other than Sanskrit e.g. Marathi, Nepali and they are developing with their pace(as they have their STATE- Maharastra and SIKKIM in India).

Training for anything is required and hence TRAINING CAMPs are essential for many things. The great Maithil leaders in the past have failed because they could not forge an organisation to guide the general mass. AMP is trying to make a cadre based mass organisation to get those unfinished dreams and tasks !!!!!

2) It is immaterial that how many of us know details of MADHUBANI PAINTINGSs everybody is not supposed to be a painter and there should be viewers also for good painters like ....

There are organisations working in this field exclusively !!!

3) WOMEN - Nobody will deny that women have a right of being educated and support their families ....and give best education to their children but it is also IMPORTANT TO HAVE a MITHILA STATE ???
You may be surprised to know that the area of Mithila has one of the lowest women literacy and the governmental efforts are dismal.
Last month 7 women polytechnics in Bihar were approved and none was in core Mithila - Jahanabad, Siwan, Piro, Purnea, Saran,Jhanabad, Kishanganj(Thakurganj)(reference daily Aaj, 4.6.09). Purnea maybe called one such somehopw but Kishanganj has been added for Minority preference only though that may be called in Mithila- yet for any plan Mithila desrves some 60 per cent allocation.
If Mithila would have been a state there would have been surely an IIT/IIM/AIIMS/AISER..and an airport for common man.
None of the Jharkhandi has tears for breaking of BIHAR into BIHAR and JHARKHAND !!!!
And Jharkhand's achievements one can see only after coming to Ranchi, Jamshedpur. It has a number of good educational institutes(yesterday Kalam visited one of those). Boys are thronging into Jharkhand for study despite Jharkhand's political failure in successive governments- for that matter many of the nations have such times in history and that is just like puerperal problem.

Who says Jharkhand is headache for the GOVT OF INDIA , earlier Bihari netas were grabbling ever fodders of Jharkhand now some POLITICIANS are EARNING which is rampant in other states also
Killing and torturing innocent people are not due to state formation.

If you have Head, HEADACHE will be and so do not be in panic that for that decapitation should be done. Lower animals do not get headache???

Mithila and Maithils are recognised ...world wide..for their EDUCATION , CULTURE , TRADITION ....CREATIVITY despite successive onslaughts on it by Biharis; one maybe surprised to know that Govt. of Bihar's tourism website has not even mention of Mithila and Maithili though it devoted full page to Rambriksha Benipuri's contribution to Hindi(even there they could not remember Nagarjuna)..

You can do for MITHILA NAD MAITHILS at your own level but that is not the end. You cannot make 27,500 crore rupees Koshi High dam(1997 estimate).
A Govt. of Mithila can only understand its problems others are only vote mongers.

Those who work UPLIFT AND SUPPORT any individuals on personal level is for their Basic need is welcome but that is not the end , we need efforts on state national and international levels to mitigate the problems of millions !!!!

Ahanke Kshama mangak kono bat nahee, ee anhak mat achhi aa bahuto raas Maithil ehen vichar rakhait chhathi karan hunka sabh angle k information nahee chhani.

But if you request for not going for Mithila movement we won't do that mistake. We want finally to settle the issue pending at least since 1912 amalgamating Mithila in a non-Bengali Movement(though Bengalis till date, including VII Schedule incusion, have supported Maithili and have adopted Vidyapati as their initial poet also) run by Lord Sachidanand Sinha who was an anti-Maithil like Dr. Rajendra Prasad who stalled Maithili education in Bihar in 1939 despite dissent note by Dr.Amarnath Jha though Mithila's plight is since 1329(Giyasuddin Tuglaque creation of Bihar Suba annexing Mithila) or even before that Ajatshatru's conquest of his Matrik Mithila!
History defines political borders and we will get ours as we have points in Mithil's favoue on all accounts either in India or in Nepal too- we want our states in both countries not only for our asmita but also for our economic emancipation.

स्थापना दिवस - अन्तरराष्ट्रीय मैथिली परिषद्

Today on 22.6.09 is Ashadhi Amavasya. Ashadhi amavasya was incidentally on both days 19th and 20th June in 1993 when on the second day of the First International Maithili Conference delegates representing 27 Maithili organisations resolved to name the Apex Maithili Organisation as Antarrashtriya Maithili Parishad(AMP).
For the convenience we at Ranchi celebrated it on a holiday Sunday the 21st June. It was scorching sun in the noon when 17 Maithils could assemble representing AMP as well as affiliate organisations(Jharkhand Maithil Manch, Mithila Maithili Kalyan Samiti, Vaidehi and also Vidaypati Smarak Samiti).
Shri Ganga Prasad Yadav, Gen.Secy., AMP Jharkhand welcomed all.
Shri Indranarayn Jha(native of village Sarra, Jhnajharpur)who is a famous writer of Mithila Digdarshan and have several cassettes in Maithili-one of the patriotic song he sang at the end) described in detail how since the inception of AMP he is attached with his heart with it.
Shri J.Jha(native of Muzaffarpur) said that he alwaus tries to attend AMP's meetings and his nephew Arun Kr. Jha has been active for it at Jamshedpur, Jammu and now at Bahal (Haryana).

Shri Bishwambhar Jha, ex-GM, HEC,who got invitation through J. Jha had telephoned me one hour back that he was retired and settled at Ashoknagar. Shri Jha exclaimed that I recalled his telephone number to which I said it was not due to me but due to the character of number itself (408020 which is not working now).
Shri Shatrughna Prasad Yadav(native of Sur Bazar, Saharsa)Sri Atmeshwar Jha,(native of Bhramarpur, Bhagalpur) also spoke(and in the end recited one of his poetries in Maithili) among others.

Shri Amarnath Jha, an active organiser for the AMP at Ranchi and convener of this function stressed that AMP was formed as the apex organisation and has proved in its 16 years working in India, Nepal and US that it is so which was approved by Shri Premchand Jha.

Dr. Guneshwar Jha, President,AMP, Jharkhand said that on the night of 13th June at Rajnagr he could not sleep recalling the consequences of the statement of Ramrijhan Yadav from Nepal that a conspiracy is going on there in his country to wrote Hindi in the Samvidhan Sabha in place of our mother tongue, Maithili. Dr. Jha, retd. Dean Faculty of Science, Ranchi University remarked with sorrow that our mother tongue Maithili has been left in lurch like that of Mother Maithili (Seeta) herself and now the conspiracy from Indian Mithila has engulfed to Nepali Mithila too.

I(Dr.Dhanakar Thakur) described how reluctantly I was initiated to Maithili_Mithila movement in 1992 and convened I International Maithili Conference rather it could be convened through me by the grace of Her(Mother Maithili) and I should take no onus for it as a student of Gita. What I tried to work through the AMP that it reaches to every segment(caste and area wise geographically) of Mithila which was not taken account at least systematically , by earlier great stalwarts of Mithila-Maithili movement, yet if I could do something it was because of the work initiated by them and many such workers are in every town who are purely workers for Maithili(like Subodh Chaoudhary of Harmu and Indra Narayan Jha) while they and Dr. Guneshwar Jha like persons have been my advisors in long continued 16 years(and for that matter in every part of country, maybe someday I compile them- some we have lost recently like Radheshym Mishra, president of Karnataka unit on 9.4.09 for whom and Dr. Jaikant Mishra and Ramanad Thakur we had condolence resolutions and silence in the end before we dispersed after sweets arranged well by Dharmeshwar Jha, President, Ranchi in whose house AMP, Jharkhad’s office runs and Ajay Kumar Jha, the young Gen. Secretary of Ranchi district who was conducting the function and informed AMP will work for education and health for the deprived Maithils living at Ranchi.
I thanked them because it was the first function organised without my personal involvement; they decided for it on 14th when I was at Darbhanga conducting examination for meritorious biology students ( some of them will come on rotation at my residence for a three months study from Aug.1).
I stressed on functioning organisationally without undue dependence on anyone whosoever he/she maybe and hence we need membership drive and unit formation regularly as well as training camps.
Concluding the meeting, Shri Dhirendra Mishra(native of Amaur, Purnea),ex-IAS, DC of Saraikela-Kharsawn spoke on compilation of work done by me which merits a Padma award as it has helped for a great community of Maithils awaking them for their recognition on even international level which is a prized work for the nation. (Probably I deserved it long back for my medical work done through founding National medicos Organisation(NMO) but I never intended nor anybody pushed it ; if Sangh Parivar would have been fair I might have been sent to Rajya Sabha or even put for the Ministry of Health but even there no one was behind me nor I expressed my desire though visiting 160+ medical colleges is a world record and I am visiting country since 1977 almost yearly at my own expense and leaves for reorganising the medical education and health services, the model of which recently was sent to the Medical Council of India on its Platinum Jubilee by inviting me as a guest lecture by my Alma Mater DMC in January 2009 which I had spoken through API, NMO several times in past).
Later Shri Dhirendra Mishra insisted me for chronological compilation of the facts. I told him though I will do it sometimes I do not feel that I had done any thing exceptional- I have seen even Marathis to come to Purnea to work and if I have worked something I worked for my area. I could not mention work of Dinesh Kumar Mishra on Koshi who despite being an Azamgarhi Bhojpuri put his life for flood victims. I was with Shri Dhirendra mishra for next three hours at his residence as I had to go to station to receive my sister coming from Delhi and the train was late. I was a perfect 'Atithi' - a guest with no prior information as was defined once by Vajpayee and despite that had heavy lunch with curd-sweets, mangoes and tilaudi, etc. His wife is from Forbesganj and so treats me like a person from her naihar It obviated my need of breakfast and at dinner also I took only two soharis, a term we are forgetting used for roti of Hindi(which means very thick marua, makai roti only).
We had many talks of interest- some of them: Maithili and Bengali are the only languages used by every community of area including Muslims about which he narrated a story of his college days when in a bus from Madhepura to Saharsa one old Muslim had remarked,”Ham sab t’ pakal aam chee..”
I narrated him my episode in Mysore bound Chamundi Express when a child Adnand has said that I was a Muslim because I spoke Hindi.(The Kannadiga Muslims speak Urdu or Dakshini Hindi among themselves while Hindu Kanaddigas speak Kannada only).
I had written a long poem on that episode and named my Hindi poem e-book ,”Hindi Tum bolte ho, tum Musalman ho.”
Mishraji had also an observation that if Dalits and Muslims would have been given opportunities to elect their representatives from among themselves probably partition would have been averted.
We talked on different Maithil Estates in Purnea and many more things. We had talk on Purnea’s weather and Imentioned nagkeshar and peepul found only in Purnea which has a weather much different from rest of Bihar. And then I went to the house of Late Abhash Kumar Chatterjee, a gem of Purnea who had topped in SSC and IAS and was an epitome of honesty in the service.
His widow Mrs. Chatterjee lives alone involved in some charitable work and I meet her once a while discussing her health and work. She said that she had spoken to Dr.K.K.Sinha about me that though intelligent I was rarely with stethoscope. She said how that I can be as remain outstation many times a month. I said it was not my fault; the country I am born is not small like Latavia or Estonia and I have to go as I want to work on a national scale.
This I had spoken in the function too that working for Maithili is not anti-Bhojpuri or anti-Magahi ; I revere Kunwar Singh and Buxar, I feel rather those dialects can develop to languages only if Mithilla state is separated; ‘under a banyan tree, saplings do not grow!
Maithili is that Banyan we are to save as that is life line to the culture of India and hence we in AMP demand “State’s second language recognition to Maithili and Sanskrit,” which the principal correspondent of the Hindustan, made the headline on probing me while I was at station as to what I had said being either dissatisfied with the release sent or wanted to be distinct in his reporting. I said exactly what I had said in the meeting.

And , I use to say on which I believe and thus I say with conviction that work for Maithili is always for the culture and nationality we are proud of. I said in the meeting I realized it much later.
Let others realize it soon and particularly those who are young and just retired should work for it till it is late(young being in family hurdles and old being incapacitated).
I could work for 16 years and I hope to add many more years-if possible by 2012, when Bihar will have its centenary of formation, AMP will have trained Maithil workers in all blocks of Mithila and then we may say-“Bihar, Mithila Chhor, if not Biharis Mithila Chhoro!”

Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam: “Kamal ka admi”

25.1.’09
Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam: “Kamal ka admi”
Though my comments on the Maithili translation of Kalam’s book, “Igmited Mind,” was published somewhere as remarked by its translator, Prof. N.L.Das, today I saw Dr. Kalam for the first time.
Dr.Kalam is known and respected by almost all Indians which I will say more as “Kamal ka admi” than he is famous as a missile man who became more famous as a non-politician president. Personally I am not in favour of a ‘non-politician’ president and have no applause for Kalam’s tenure as a President which was more or less like others barring a few episodes; if he was good in some also ‘stamp’ like in signing ‘President rule.’ In Bihar.
Dr. Kalam visited Ranchi in my campus where I work for the SAIL. Yesterday he came to its school DPS for which heavy security was. His life is precious true but then why not such persons are made available on tele-screen only. People get trouble by security persons. Even I was initially stopped by security persons knowing well that I was a doctor and working there(of course they let me go when I told them to search me if they like so.)
The road to colony was blocked where my health centre is. I had in my mind as to why Dr. Kalam chose an elite school like DPS for his programme. Why not he chose the first sarkari school of this district which might have given him a sample of our state’s state of education.

Anyway, I was already invited by a MTI(Management Training Institute)’s faculty with a pass for 25th January’s lecture on the occasion of MTI’s 47th Foundation Day. The SAIL top management was there with many VIPs and it was a grand function with huge expenditure.
Dr. Kalam spoke and he spoke by his heart and so he was applauded by all who were present there. He quoted passages from a book, ”Empires of Mind.” He quoted synergy is today’s need, yesterday it was hierarchy.
He exemplified for creative leaders by Vikram S arbhai who in 1970 had vision, ”India with the strength of its scientific personnel can have a day spacecrafts..” and today it has 150 transponders.
Dr. Kalam asked for ,”Management in failures,” and he said how after the unsuccessful SLVIII, Satish Dhawan owned the failure to himself in the press conference though Dr.Kalam was its project leader and after a year when it has a success same Satish Dhawan in the press conference gave full credit to Dr. Kalam. Leaders should be shock absorbers like Dhawan.
Dr. Kalam said about Shreedharan of Delhi Metro rail how dedicatedly he got the task done in time.
Dr. Kalam remembered a father at Keral’s Thumba whom Dr.Vikram Sarabhai met for getting land of fishermen, church and Father’s as that as the best place for space centre and he could not get it through State machinery or political ways. Father asked Sarabhai to come next day to Church where in the Sunday Mass he spoke that though he prays God for well being of all, that scientist Sarabhai worked through science to get electricity, mike, drugs etc. He asked whether they will give land and church to Sarabhai and all said, “Ameen.”

So science and spirituality can work together.
He quoted Gita that one should be like a flower which is faded after giving fragrance.

He said that swami Vivekananda and Jamshedji Tata were travelling in the same ship to US and when Tata told that he was going to UD to have technical know how of steel, Swami Vivekanand said ,”and what about science of steel and technology itself.” Jamshedji returned and donated his one third of money to the Science Institute at Bangalore, IISc popularly known as, Tata Institute of Science.”(I have written my memoir on it two years back, IISC: The Prodigal Son of Tata,” as Jamshetji had two daughters only and third part of his wealth, he donated to this Institute and so I had eponym it so.
Dr. Kalam asked for vision, mission and reality which he exemplified by many examples. He asked for Steelvision 2020 in the field of production and per capita consumption, including low cost housing in rural area.
He said leaders should have vision like Vikram Sarabhai and should have passion to transfer that in all.
A leader should be able to take unexplored path and manage success and failures and should have courage to take deficiencies and have nobility in management and should be transparent and man of integrity.
Dr. Kalam invited some questions. I was second to ask about ,”Inter linking of rivers and its eco effects to valley settled adivasis in particular,”
I had in fact written against this in The Hindu opposing his views which was published promptly while I was at Bangalore.
Dr. Kalam expressed his views that it will help rising in adivasi’s crop gain but he admitted that it was a very big project and it has many ecological aspects,
In fact, initially I was inclined to it but reading the other aspects through various channel, I left idea and simply am now in support of inter-linking of some small rivers in a particular area and not linking big rivers from one to other. More so water will be siphoned off not during floods but when draught and then the flood prone poorer area(like Mithila ) will be deprived of water.

Some more questions were asked on moral education, character building rightly he answered it that parents and primary school teachers have greater role in that. He replied a lady teacher that a good teacher of 50 should see how average 30 students of his/her class can do better.
On population control he replied that women education has done it in Mizoram, Kerala.
When a person pointed out for the state of Govt. schools, Dr.Kalam thought it for tribal and gave example of Chhtishgarh's moving schools on vans.
Dr. Kalam replied like a teacher but he seemed to me a preacher, a noble soul.

Girl students of Mithila are more interested in studies- nexty generation girls will come up from khana pakana -kitchen!

Girl students of Mithila are more interested in studies- nexty generation girls will come up from khana pakana -kitchen!

“Girl students of Mithila are more interested in studies,” said Arjun Mishra, a native of village Gajahara resing at Ayachinagar, stadium road of Madhubani who teaches in a school at Hanumannagar. He is father of Avinash kumar, a student appeared in ’08 test who has been sent to Bokaro for PMT preparation. I invited Arjun Mishra for AMP meeting giving reference to Jaykant Mishra. Long back I had visited his village and stayed at the house of poet Paravasi .
Some students want to talk and some not. Sister of other boy picked up phone, a girl of BA from village Balha studying in BA(History Honours) was thus when I asked the history behind her official name Mafti though in village she was called Kanchan, probably was shy at my question.
When I asked sister of Dileep, Sangita whether she knew Vidyapati’s song, she replied in negative.
When I called for Tabassum Fatima a daughter of a labourer said that she wrote businessman instead casually. She was very much interested to pursue biology to become a doctor but she after a long wait of my call took admission in commerce course. I advised her to continue as she did not have good marks in the test and further medicine is a cumbersome study. She asked me to provide some books in English for accountancy etc. which I promised to gift her once she gave me the names of books consulting from her friends and teachers. She said though understanding in Hindi is easier but it has complex words so she wanted books in English. She was also sorry that her teachers become angry instead of guiding her. One of my young patient who had done MBA was listening to our talk and later he suggested Siddiqui and S.Chand’s book. I asked her to give me the name she wanted. She had more difficulty in practical portion of commerce book. I think a book bank should be created to help such students. I suggested to her that she should find out some of her friends for costudy and I will be pleased to offer a set of books.
Kasma-Marar;s Keshi Kumari’s ,mother hailing from Raja salhesh;s Sirha said that Keshi was admant to become a doctor and she has shifted to Madhubani with her sister and brother – they take grain from village and cook and study in a rented room for Rs.1500. Keshi’s father had gone to meet me during my last visit but could not find me- maybe he had gone to other Parsa than Baira Parsa. I gav her my number so that he may meet me on 13th June. I said the mother of Keshi that she had 10 bighs of land but I own only two! I know despite that this harijan family living in kuchha rooms of seven number must be in difficulty when matter for study comes. May God bless Keshi with a seat in medical course and if such examinations help some students to make an idea that is also not a small achievement.
Anjani daughter of Shyamsundar Thakur, Sothigama has also taken up biology and she may probably come for examination again as her father told me.
Jiachh Mahto of Saharghat’s phone was picked up b a neighbour’s daughter who was also a student and she took keen interest in noting my number. She was not sure whether Jibachh(named after a river) has taken admission in biology.

Andhra Thadhi’s Anil Paswan had given a number Rajesh Mishra a much senior to him who is semi-self-employed in village . I asked Rajesh to join our AMP meeting at Jainagar.
Sunil from Rakhbari had given number of his friend distant Bisfi who though give sunil’s phone number was not willing to talk, maybe apprehensive as to why I was talking?
Akhilesh Safi from Gopalpur ,Phulhar had come to see me last time in October and though he had joined mathematics is a humble student.
Yesterday Uttam Vats’s mother, a singer picked up phone and asked for calling her in some Maithili programme. She lived at Saharsa though her village is Suhath. I asked whether she will sing a song for me? She replied cutely, ”why not? Come Saharsa, Prof. Vinay Chaoudhary knows her.”
Her sons are brilliant but both have opted for mathematics. At night Uttam had talked m and wished him the best.
I have talked many and have to talk many more in this regard- it is an exercise exhilarating and at times educative.

Funny are the answers of boys-one Rajan Jha has writer, Father’s occupation- Daktari karma and Mothers- Khana Pakana..I hope in next generation such girls will come up from khana pakana -

Ashmita is not alone; needed Mithila Vanijya Manch/Chhatra Parishad
Ashmita is not alone. Today I called for Sablok Ranjan Jha who had phoned me on Janki Navami day when I was at Bokaro Steel City station that his brother would appear this year. For giving him information I was seeking him but instead his mother picked up and then his father who told me that his other son has taken admission in mathematics group which is popularly called as ‘Science’ (Biology is in fact not a ’pure science’ that does not mean that it is partly ‘impure science’ but true it is not as much ‘science,’ as is mathematics which is devoid of any emotions and life.)
Yet he wanted to give me Sablok’s number and asked a girl to tell me that. I was confused over voice which did not seem to be the first (Sablok’s mother). It was Rachna, Sablok’s cousin whom I thought ‘Ratna’(which is also name of my cousin) and when I said ‘Anha t’ ratna (gems) chhee, she corrected me that she Was Rachna and said she was reading in BA. I said ,”Ok, then you must be doing Rachnas(writings) being an arts student and what was her subjects. He was in Economic(Honours) at Jhummaklal Sah College, Madhubani. I asked about Prof. Gaya Prasad Singh, our AMP, President, Madhubani who was teaching there. She said that though her name was on roll she was not attending classes and will appear in examination only. I said that it was wrong and that to for a subject like economic. She said me that a college has opened up at Khutauna nearby. I said to transfer her name there and attend classes, maybe there is not honours in that.
I asked some questions on economics as I had read during my matriculation in 1970( ‘Your BA will be a ‘Capital’ or not? Though she said ‘Yes’ I correct her that it had no transferability and hence it was not. I also asked about the jewellery her grandfather might have given to her mother, kept as ‘koshiliya’ to be divulged at the time of Rachna’s marriage Though she said it as capital again I corrected that till that is in business(like in mortgage for getting loan) it was not.
I also asked about the .functions of ‘money,’ and taught her the famous lines’
“Money is a matter of functions four
A medium, a measure, a standard , a store.”
And I explained it to her and gave my number like Asmita to give a miss call after she read a chapter and wanted to know something more.
At the same time I explained her that I was a doctor and may not be able to satisfy her queries that too for honours standard. So she should prepare a list of women and men who have read or studying economics in her village and asked them to assemble at a place and teach each other as that was the only alternative to get knowledge.
Then I made call to the number she has given for her Sablok’s brother. Instead it was picked up by his cousin. Manish Thakur of Bacchi village( 3 km from Madhubani). I asked his gotra but he was of different than me. Manish was preparing for CA examination residing at Laxminagar of Delhi. I gave him the number of my brother in aw Vivekanand Jha who is teaching such students at Delhi and may guide him. I also gave him number of Kripanand Jha, Gen.Secreatry,Amp for he could join Maithili work.
I also suggested that seeing many yoiug students from merit examination 2008 opted for commerce, it would be prudent if they could also be guided by some one like I was trying for would be medicos. I said him that in some years back I had in a meeting at the Rajendra Chhatravas, Kolkata had formed Maithil Vanijya Chhatra sangh but it did not run as NSWEO(National soft ware engineers Organsation) I founded at Bangalore. Till the workers from the same stream does not work, any organisation will not prosper. Manish was in agreement to do something and asked as to what should be done. I told him that there will be constitution formation, registration, membership, annual conference and picking up talents and nurturing them. It may be even under Mithila Voidyarthi Parishad, While talking I tried to search that news published in the Maihtili Sandesh but could not get from reference numbers. Just after disconnecting I could get that in 17th issue(Basant 2057 Vikram) that on 26.1.2001 , ‘Antarrashtriya Maithil Vanijya Manch’ was founded in a meeting at the Rajendra Chhatravas and the name and address of convenor was given. I could not continue link with him and it did not work, It may be revived with the same name or some change and I know money will be not published through souvenirs since fund of all companies are managed by such finance people , In fact Krishnamurari(who had been with me from Ranchi) had said to me that such an organisation will also solve the financial problems of the AMP. It was a sheer coincidence that I was there at Kolkata because I had gone to see Vivekanand Jha primarily that day as a prospective groom for my sister (with whom he was married in 2006).
That was also the day and time earthquake has stuck at Bhuj though at Kolkata I was not aware of that being busy in my schedule( such meetings) which I could know only the next day I reached Patna; though I did not go personally there, National Medicos Organisation(founded by me in 1977) worked there for six months running a temporary hospital named as Dr.Hedgewar Hospital).
So the organisations work if irrigated for many years, it fruits in next generation.
I know even today I wanted to get a new patra for my Rachna and there was Manish too in sequence of coincidences. Manish had viral hepatitis and I suggested her to take plety of sharbat(watr with sugar) and karha of Punarnava( Gadhapurain as called in Mithila) which I had suggested to a poor patient of fatty liver from distant Ghatshila brought to me by a young engineer Ujjwal (whose wife I call Ujjwala, though I was recalling her name as Nisha as if she was just opposite to her name, very fair opposite to dark night’s (Nisha’s) black, she is Nita which is which I never remember despite many times I asked that; their daughter’s name Bhavya I always remember from Ashtottarshatnamstrotam of Bhagwati). When asked Ujjwal for his spelling as this was some three days before was sparked by one other Ujwal, who is a Maithil but dead against of the formation of Mithila State, not to correct that which I might have written in innocence as Ujjwal which is correct version, I think to send Ujwal a reply .”If our name is Mithila no one should try to correct it calling Bihar;” name is such an important thing which is forgotten last in a demented person and hence students of clinical medicine are asked to ask name in last for judging memory,’ if a person has forgotten his/her name, must have amnesia of profound nature.’
(just now I could find him on chat and knew he is from Shubhakarpur from where I started my practicing carreer long back in 1982-83 and could send him parts of amy autobiography on word version)
Ujjwal is connected to Shri shri Ravishankar’s movement and I could know him intimately when I was working in SAIL’s computer Laboratory many years back while preparing index of my autobiography). I told Ujjwal that he should help coaching such students in chemistry (as his father was a chemistry teacher and he himself was a brilliant student) as only yesterday incidentally I got an assurance from a SAIL retired engineer, Surendra Sinha who coaches for physics. He had come to meet me knowing I was at Keshav Jha’s house on a social visit. Jha’s family from Bettiah is also full of doctors(his daughter is at Delhi and son and daughter in law doctors in UK). Surendra Sinha;s father is a doctor of 1948 batch from Patna whom I met yesterday.
Today I could know about some more students- those who were awarded last year among them one Neelmani’s father from a village near Saharsa told me that due to the effect of that examination his son had taken a vow to become a doctor though he could not be brought to study at Ranchi(probably he was fourth in merit) but still a good one and I think if such examination has made any student inclined to become a doctor, he/she is bound to become. I hope he will join self study/coaching in a suitable time( I want to start it from 1st Aug ’09) as per his college suitability as his classes at AN College, Patna are not disturbed much.
I could not get other good students( who were rewarded by Money Orders) of Saharsa but from Madhubani group first, second and third have opted for mathematics group. The parents of such students talked in a positive way and that is a reward for such time-consuming examination process without any honorarim.
When I was trying to contact Pappu Kumar of Saho parrai, his disable friend Kamran talked for long who runs a betal shop and his friend Pappu had left for charging the mobile I could know when I asked how much he charged for charging. Kamran said that Pappu was his friend and knowing me some senior requested me to get a job. His family of eight persons have no land and father was working at Delhi as a white washing labourer. I asked Kamran to continue his study and call me after Matriculation when I will try to help him, at least by giving some recommendation letters for a job he would apply somewhere and till that he should continue his shop with honour as no work was small. Preferably he should complete his graduation and then a Teacher’s training form a nearby Minority Teachers’ Training College at Bahera.
My time for closure was approaching yet I phoned for Irfan who might have returned from Andhra. Irfan was awarded as third in Madhubani ’08 examination and was spotted by me while going to Baira_Parsa camp in October ’08. In fact he was instrumental to drive his friends out of camp yet I was interested to know which stream he had taken.
His mother advised me to talk him before he left for Darbhanga by afternoon train However when I contacted at noon, his younger brother said that he studied in Class II at Chowk and in Class IV at Govt. School. I said if you study with labour Chowk school will also put you in Class IV. I felt that Chowk school must be a private school.
Yesterday my old neighbour BK Jha had come and suggested to me a plan for cooperative farming. He was ready to settle in village side of Mithila leaving Delhi while I was sceptical of my abode after retirement, may be anywhere..
We had discussed yesterday many things for film,”Bhanahi Vidyapati,” to project places of Mithila in various epochs and talked Prpf. Rai, HOD of History, LNMU to convene a seminar on “History of Mithila,” which he readily accepted and will join us at Jainagar.
In the evening in a meeting of AMP, Ranchi Vinay Kumar Khan was elected president of Ranchi district and I authorized him to form unit at Udaipur he is visiting soon.
At the PCO booth, for fax I was surprised to see non stop rush for recharging mobiles and it took more than one hour for minutes’ work. Meeting RC Prosad was a sad experience, a brilliant engineer after mental breakdown was difficult to manage by his family members and problems of aging population is increasing day by day with the collapse of joint families and our ancient culture and wisdom.

We want to change the society and that will not be changed by hefty slogans- it needs Ujjwal’s style of work in the field of service, if not mine. I listened this morning HRD Minister, Kapil Sibbal on Radio and TV that he will go through the menace of capitation fee and ‘Deemed Universities”(which are though not fake are good scan centres and exploitative to students and society).

Tele- Tution to Asmita promised

Blog 6.6.09
Tele- Tution to Asmita promised
Yesterday I was on Pradosh fast and did not come on net and remained in chamber instead to minimize metabolic expenditure.
However phone contact continued contacting Maithil poor but meritorious ISc Bio students. In between my nephew competed for CBSE Medical and was happy that now he may take up some portion of coaching such students.
The wrong connection again repeated. In fact the 33 per cent of 11 point Excel sheet’s number are too small, smaller than eye specialists’ sheet for checking point 8 words which I can f course can read without any specks. Yet some mistake was bound to occur and in fact I was inviting and had an intention for some such connection.. Lo! I had noted a number in big letters from small sized on sheet- 9931988824 for Dileep Singh who had appeared in 2008 examination and for one mistake it was in fact 9931988924 I was connected to a frail voice of a girl near Basopatti in village Rairhi which I had not visited any time past but has gone nearby Malmali and had stayed in an unknown house of a Duttaji(Karn kayastha) in 1993 Padyatra when in fact I was an Unknown Maithil on those ways.
So, it was Asmita Kumari daughter of Dharmanth Sah whose small shop has been closed. The girl had passed Class X and has taken admission in Ramjanki College of of her village where hardly any class runs. Her school too had no classes since class VII as there were no teachers. Recently some teachers were posted and some classes are being(may be in Nitish Raj change) .
I asked the meaning of Asmita and explained how Maithili and Mithila is our Asmita. She had heard of Phulhar , the Pushpvatika where Janki saw Ram first- Love at first sight..
Asmita said boys can go to Basopatti and have coaching .tuition but being a girl she cannot. She was even sore over examiners that despite she had written answers well she was not given numbers.
I pacified her and said though I was seeking biology students, I will suggest her on phone oif she gives me a miss call after reading any chapter of her subjects- Hindi, English, Psychology, Sociology. The little girl said,”Anha phone par katek parhahab.”
True, tele-tution is difficult but I can give her solace and if she passes a reward.

Tjat is the state of women education in the country where a DALIT WOMEN is speaker of Parliament and PRESIDENT is a women?
What identity they have chosen to make people fool.
But you cannot make fool everyone for every time.
At night too I got two calls one from Darbhanga of Chandan who is ISc math student but more important was from Nayana Kumari who with her friend Kajal studies USC Biology at MRM College coming a bit distance from her village Kothia of Jhanjharpur. I had talked her mother and she was also an enchanting Maithil and other’s mother from Latha village. I told her that you are Theth Maithilanis and then I talked my Bahuji from Panchoibh that she should work for Maithil ladies group-her brother Manoj Choudhary is in US and she is a Kolkata-bred Maithilani who is spending tome at Madhubani.
Should such Maithilanis come, Mithila will rise; not by suicide of Sharad Yadav opposing Women Bill for reservation in parliament (‘Like Socrates’ he said)..I feel sorry for any reservation and in fact I am in support for him that only elite women will get reservation and so there should be some space for Dalits , if at all reservation is provided.

4.8.०९ Today’s Mithila is not of CC Mishra and Buchhidai’s of Harimaohan Jha: participation of Maithilanis must for development of Mithila

4.8.०९Today’s Mithila is not of CC Mishra and Buchhidai’s of Harimaohan Jha: participation of Maithuilnis must for development of Mithila
And what a coincidence again today I got a female voice from Madna near Khajauli when I was seeking a student of 008 examination; again his bhabhi and when I told this Archana Kumari(though married) she again turned out to be a teacher who had her education from Wome’s College,Jamshedpur. I told her about yesterday’s incidence of Babita via Jamshedpur to Madhubani village and gave her number too to have a close talk . Archana had attended Mithila Sanskritik Parishad’s functions there though she did not recall my speech in any one of those. She had a knowledge of Maithilanis staging there dramas.I asked her rear up her only son and see how students of her school can be healthy like using soaps after defecation, for females a practice to wash first urinary front part and then not touch again after washing anal back which is so important from preventing urinary tract infection’, good eating habits etc. to which some she was knowing already being attached to schools. I asked her if total literacy is achieved it will be a milestone for Mithila.National female literacy is as low as 54 per cent, just now I listened to in Madam President’s speech in new Parliament. For Mithila it must be half of that- a Mithila which has produced Seeta, Gargi, Maitreyi, Bharati like accomplished women. In fact our primary schools should be center of transformation of pupil into good citizen.I promised her to give some more such numbers if accidentally I got and then have a meeting of theirs at some place where I may like to attend as Maithilanis participation in Maithil organizations is a must and sadly it is dismal. All such organizations are male dominated in a world where female president and female leaders are coming up.Not always females catch mobile. I talked a student Azad Deepak today and many things about his village, Basaith Chanpura. Then talked one;s guardian from Gangour village who had arranged my meeting with a Mukhiya Yadavjee when I had visited that part of district during Durgapuja. One boy’s sister replied me who was also studing in Inter and was pleased to know that now girls are also studying in Mithila.Today’s Mithila is not of CC Mishra and Buchhidai’s of Harimaohan Jha otherwise I cpould not have such illuminating talks, accidentally and talking to an unknown male but so closely for a cause of emancipation of Mithila which can be possible only by participation of local public and not by loafty budget speeches or making one or other on some key posts as is witnessed.

A sonorous talk of a Maithil lady on phone

A sonorous talk of a Maithil lady on phone

Usually phone calls are business calls and people do not talk unnecessarily.

For last few days I am contacting students who had appeared in 2008 merit cum poverty examination held at Madhubani so that they may sent new examinees to 2009 examination to be held at Jainagar and Darbhanga.

Yesterday I talked Dhiraj kr. Mandal of Madhepur he had taken admission in I.Com and also he told me about his friend Anand Kumar Jha who has also taken admission in the same course and college.

Today I called for Puja Kumari of village Ramnagar, Jagatpur near Madhubani. The reply was a sonorous one of a young lady who was her aunt. I guazed from the pronunciation that she was somehow educated and asked her to communicate Puja’s marks who had taken admission in mathematics stream at the RK College, Madhubani.

I asked about Herambnath Thakur, an old man of that village who had participatred in Mithila movement led by Babu jankinandan sdingh in 1954. Herambnath Thakur had been to asansol jail with many, including my uncle Madhukar Thakur on the narration of which I had written an article way back in 1992 in the Ranchi Express and since then I am a votary of Mithila satehood.

Herambnath Thakur had written me letters getting my address from somewhere and I had gone to see him Ramnagar village. He had blessed me.

Babita, the lady on phone said me that he was her grandfather in law and was ill with paralysis at Delhi at the house of his son who work there. I asked her to give me his number so that I can talk him and meet if possible.

Then I asked the lady her naihar.; She was from Karnpur(Supaul) and was graduate who used to teach at Jamshedpur where her husband works and also later at Madhubani. Due to illness of her mother in law she was at Ramnagar and was rearing up her two Laxmis.

I asked her age –she was of 30. I asked her to shoulder her responsibilities and also have some social work which she agreed.

I gave her first work to send some students to that examination.

I told her about Mira Kumar being first women speaker to which she said that women were proud of her. I added that she was not an ordinary women from a family. It was just taking a pride for me that L N Mishra was also a Maithil Brahmin.

The way to find right persons at right place is to nurture talent as we are attempting at our own level. Giving some prize or bringing some students for 3 months coaching(from this year as planned) is not a big thing but a small beginning of a big thing.

“The picture of Mithila will change by such work.” I had told Shatrughna Yadav, a teacher at Salempur, near Ucchaitha, Benipatti I had seen him during my cycle march in October 2008 when he only was taken in confidence by a mad married young girl whom villagers were torching. I had then prescribed some medicines for her and she has recovered. I requested him to come over to Jainagar in meeting and also to send some students for examination.

I know this is a tedious work but let me take track of a few hundred students to have some tangible results till then it is a sonorous talk of that lady on phone.

Mithila and it was a girl from some country: Malyasia

There was an alert for me for Mithila and it was a girl from some country I felt in South Asia from a sixth sense..

I searched on Google for Selangor and found and it was Malyasia’s most populated and prosperous state.
Once upon a time Mithila, my mother land was also very prosperous- so much so that Lord Ram, prince of Ayodhya when entered into Mihtiapuri(Janakapur) he was confused seeing a well built person in the first house who had utensils of gold and silver in which he was eating. Ram thought he was King Dasrath! No! that fellow was the guard of the city(Dwarpal) and it was said that Maharaja Jankak. The Rajarshi, used to donate his pot of gold and silver once he had eaten and Ram was confused there.
Whether I will confuse with this Mithila if I happen to meet her! Not only her name comes from once prosperous, she is from most prosperous state of Malyasia, maybe called a part of ancient Hindu cradle of civilization.
There are many named Mithila out of Mithila see some of them:

I have seen name of many as Maithili of non-Maithils. First I knew about table tennis All India champion Maithili in 1980s and when after some years I was going from Chennai to Thanjavur, I saw a reservation with that name, near my berth. When I enquired a lady she was Dr. Chandra Joseph, MD, returning from the same medical conference of APICON I was. She told me that Maithili is a common name..
I will write on Maithili some day later..
Let me say that Mithila named female is ok as we consider our land as Matribhumi!
No male should take up this name in future!
